Cool Ideas For A Baby Shower

There was a time when a baby shower consisted of a few people gathered around, snacking on basic food and enjoying small talk, but times have definitely changed. The traditional baby shower has seen its day, and expectant parents are now turning this into something really worth celebrating. In fact, you may be invited to a baby shower that could rival a luxurious wedding reception or swanky barbeque, and most people now understand the importance of really celebrating this day. This has even become big business and there are now a variety of “baby shower planners” to ensure your day goes off with a bang. This post will introduce you to a number of different ideas for a baby shower.

What about Dad?

Baby showers have traditionally always been about the mother, and enjoying a day with her friends. However, who’s to say that dad shouldn’t be allowed to join in on the celebrations? Admittedly, you may have to steer away from the more conventional unwrapping of gifts, such as breast pumps and assorted baby gifts, but it is becoming far more commonplace to see fathers and husbands attending a baby shower. In reality this is a celebration of a new life coming into the world and therefore it makes perfect sense that you have everyone involved there to celebrate. You may also want to look at a theme for your baby shower, thus keeping everyone entertained, including the male guests.

Kids As Well

Not only are men more commonly seen at baby showers, but as this is a party of sorts, a celebration, why not invite your guests’ children along as well. You can still have the traditional gift giving to expectant mum (and possibly dad as well), but this is the ideal opportunity to get every member of your family and friends together in order to mark this auspicious occasion.  In fact, you could almost view this as your baby’s first ever party, although they aren’t actually physically there yet. Baby showers of yesteryear were usually quite boring and casual affairs, but surely this is a time when everyone should together and celebrate the new life that is about to join us.

Themes

As baby showers are now becoming far more like parties this is a great opportunity to have a little fun. You could look at a specific theme for your “party” and decorate in certain colors, which may be closely associated with the sex of your baby. In fact, you could design your theme with all sorts of baby accessories, such as drinks served in baby bottles and everyone supplied with a bib just for a little fun. The theme is down to you and what you serve to your guests is completely your choice. You may even want to serve alcohol to the other adults, as just because mum can’t have a drink this doesn’t mean no one else can. In fact, this is the ideal opportunity to try your hand at making a few non-alcoholic cocktails, which are certain to go down a treat. Remember this is a cause for celebration, so enjoy yourself as much as can before the real hard work starts.
